A Closer Look at the Career of Katharine Ross

We all know the iconic face of Katharine Ross. With her big blue eyes and bright smile, she’s been a staple in Hollywood since the late 1960s. But do you know who she is? Let’s take a look at some of her most iconic roles, as well as some little-known facts about this amazing actress.

Katharine Ross got her start in Hollywood in 1967 with her breakout role in The Graduate. She played Elaine Robinson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, who ultimately runs off with Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman).

This performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe Nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. Since then, she has starred in films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Stepford Wives, and Donnie Darko. She also had a memorable guest appearance on the television show Happy Days, where she played Fonzie’s love interest, Pinky Tuscadero.

In addition to acting, Katharine Ross is also an accomplished horse rider who competed in local shows early in her career.

She even ran away from home to join the circus when she was just 16! She eventually moved back home and attended San Rafael High School before setting out for Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time.

While there she studied under Lee Strasberg at his famed Actor’s Studio a place that helped shape many of Hollywood’s great stars like Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe.
Another interesting fact about this starlet is that she has been married three times! Her first marriage was to Oscar-winning composer John Barrymore Jr., whom she met while attending UCLA drama school; they later divorced in 1968 after five years of marriage.

She then went on to marry Sam Elliott in 1984 (they remain married today), followed by Gaetano Lisi in 2005; both marriages ended in divorce shortly thereafter due to irreconcilable differences.

It’s hard to believe that Katharine Ross has graced us with her talent for over 50 years! From running away from home at 16 to becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, it’s clear that this actress has lived an exciting life, and we can only hope that there are still more stories yet to come from her incredible career!

So next time you see one of Katharine Ross’s films or television appearances, take a moment to appreciate this fantastic actress and all that she has accomplished throughout the decades! You won’t be disappointed!
